Problems with FFA

FFAs easily react with alkaline catalysts to

form soap that prohibits the separation of biodiesel and glycerol. The soaps of

FFAs also cause foaming in aqueous media. The resulting soaps also cause an

increase in viscosity, formation of gels, and foams and make the separation of

glycerol difficult
